We are the Bowls Tropical Far North Queensland District Association. Our association incorporates twenty tw0 (22) bowls clubs in the far north of Queensland.

As part of the association with the clubs we are responsible for the formation of district teams to compete with other districts within Queensland. Some of the competitions are held as far afield as the Gold Coast.

Weipa is a coastal mining town on the Gulf of Carpentaria, and one of the largest towns on the Cape York Peninsula famous for its bauxite mining. It is 818 kilometres northwest of Cairns.

Thursday Island is off the Queensland Coast in the Torres Strait Island group, 39 kilometres from Cape York Peninsula, in the Far North of Queensland. To get there is by flight to Horne Island and the boat to Thursday. Boats do call in with cargo and some passengers.

Travel up through the tropical ranges, to the tablelands to the Mareeba Club some 60 kilometres west of Cairns. The area was once famous for tobacco growing, now many tropical fruits and other vegetables are grown here. For the coffee lovers enjoy some of the locally grown coffee.

Other clubs in the tropical north of Queensland have their own stories and all are set in the tropical far north.

Tully Club in the southern part of the district and is a rural town about 140 kilometres from Cairns. The area attracts visitors for its rainforests and vicinity to beaches.

Some clubs are in close proximity of Cairns and whereas others are as described.

Each club has its own beauty and identity, not only for their area but also what the club members make of it.
